Blane Valley Route.jpg

Route and Stats:

We will run from the car park of the Glengoyne Distillery on the A81 about 10 minutes drive past Milngavie. We will take in both sides of the Blane Valley starting on the West Highland Way and running back towards Blanefield where we will join the pipe track and run to just above the Distillery, at the foot of Dumgoyne. This will be a straight forward 7 mile run on hard packed track. Normal road shoes will be absolutely fine for this. For those that fancy it, Jonny will finish the run with a climb around the back of Dumgoyne, summitting and running down the front back to the car park. For those that don’t want the extra 2 miles and 1200ft of elevation they can easily return to the car just below the pipe track.

Distance and elevation: 7 miles and 600ft, +Dumgoyne 9 miles and 1800ft

Terrain: Hard Packed Trail and short road sections for the first 7 mile option. Dumgoyne is muddy and steep and a pair of trail shoes would be recommended for the whole route if you think you’ll take the option of the hill at the end.

Who for: This is a trail run for beginners and intermediate levels. We will guide the group at a pace where everyone is comfortable and feels like they learn a new route and off road running skills while also getting a workout in.

Duration: 1.hour 20mins - 2 hours 15mins

Meeting point: Glengoyne Distillery on the A809 at 0900 on Sunday 20th October

Good to know: The session will be led by Jonny Kilpatrick
