Route and Stats:
We will run from the Queens View Car Park up and through the narrow pass in the Whangie reaching the trig point at the top of the hill. From here we will descend to the John Muir Way and then follow the rollercoaster of a loop path around the Burncrooks Reservior rejoining the John Muir Way and retracing our steps back over the Whangie and back to car park.
Distance: 7.5 miles
Total Elevation: 1300 ft
Terrain: This is a reasonably good route underfoot with a combination of rough path and some muddy sections. A pair of trail shoes is recommended for grip.
Who for: This is a trail run for beginners and intermediate levels. We will guide the group at a pace where everyone is comfortable and feels like they learn a new route and off road running skills while also getting a workout in.
Duration: 1.hour 45mins - 2 hours
Meeting point: Queens View Car Park on the A809 at 0900 on Sunday 15th September
Good to know: The session will be led by Jonny Kilpatrick and potentially esteemed ultra and trail runner, David Gow depending on how his legs pull up form a long run the day before.
