Route and Stats:
This route will take in many of the highlights of running in the Kilpatrick Hills just outside of Glasgow. We will start the run with a 1000ft climb on road and forestry trail. After this we will head over to the Overton House side of the Kilpatrick Hills and make our way around the crags giving great single track terrain to run on and stunning views over to Ben Lomond and Loch Lomond. We will return via some more forestry trail along the side of Loch Humphrey and branch off at the top of the tourist path along the slacks to the trig point. Here we will have a long descent that will really keep the legs and core working. This will take us back to our start point at the gas works.
Distance and elevation: 11 miles and 2100ft of elevation
Terrain: This route has a little of everything from 4wd and forestry paths to uneven tussock tramping.
Who for: This is a trail run for intermediate levels. (ie you have experience of running on trail and it’s not your first time). We will guide the group at a pace where everyone is comfortable and feels like they learn a new route and off road running skills while also getting a workout in.
Duration: 2 - 2.15 hours
Meeting point: Kilpatrick Braes Car Park beside the Old Kilpatrick Bowling Club
Good to know: The session will be led by Jonny Kilpatrick
