Mixed Martial Arts (MMA)
The recent explosion of mixed martial arts into mainstream popularity has meant an increased rise in people taking part in training such as boxing, wrestling, jiu jitsu, muay thai boxing, krav maga and many other forms of physical combat training. At Physio Effect we love anything that encourages people to get active and exercise. Inevitably as with any contact sport injuries can happen, often as a result of direct trauma through impact or twisting, but also quite routinely through repetitive stress.
At Physio Effect we work closely with MMA coaches and gyms and have built a strong relationship with many of the coaches including those at the highly regarded Everyday Athlete, Griphouse, D-Unit and Higher Level gyms. We have a good depth of understanding of the demands of MMA on the body and work with individuals to ensure optimal injury management as well as a plan for rehabilitation to minimise further injury risk and maximise performance.
