Route and Stats:
This is a short 6.5 mile loop of the Chatelherault Country Park. This is a beautiful route that will take us along the river at the base of a tree lined gorge. We will take in elevation with a mixture of steps and hard pack trail to be offered lovely views across the valley in the second half of the run. This is brilliant training terrain for anyone who is planning on running on the West Highland Way races this year and doesn’t fancy travelling too far from Glasgow. On this run we will have the opportunity to work on uphill and downhill running skills using both steps and trail.
Distance and elevation: 6.5 miles and 750ft of elevation
Terrain: This route is mostly hard packed walking trails with occasional sections of steps. Depending on the weather there may be short sections of mud on the flat.
Who for: This is a trail run for beginner and intermediate levels. We will guide the group at a pace where everyone is comfortable and feels like they learn a new route and off road running skills while also getting a workout in.
Duration: 1.5 hours
Meeting point: Chatelherault Country Park at the front entrance to the visitor centre
