What is the difference between ‘Regular’ and ‘Clinical’ Pilates?

Regular Pilates is conducted by a Pilates instructor, whereas Clinical Pilates is prescribed and supervised by a Physiotherapist. The difference is very important because a physiotherapist has an in-depth knowledge of injury, pathology, body function and movement patterns. The physiotherapist will assess each person and determine which exercises will be the most effective for each individual. This becomes especially important if you have a history of injury such as low back pain, whiplash, hypermobility or an athlete coming back from an injury. There will be certain exercises which need to be adapted specifically for you.

Mother and Baby CryBaby Pilates Classes are starting again in the New Year!

CryBaby Pilates Class – New for January: we’re adding a second class!
Venue: Physio Effect Clinic and Studio, Unit 18, 100 Borron Street, Glasgow G4 9XG
Start Date: Tuesday January 10th 2017
Times: 11:30 – 12:30 and 13.30 – 14.30
Price: £12 per class, £80 for block including initial clinical assessment

Class Information: This post-natal mother and baby class is a core-strengthening class focusing on the working relationships between the abdominals, back, diaphragm and pelvic floor muscles. The class can help prevent back pain from lifting your child, improve continence, re-train pelvic floor and treat abdominal separation post-birth.

Booking information: Places on the block book up quickly so please email pilates@physioeffect.co.uk or call 0141 230 4766 to reserve your space! For any new mothers starting, our Chartered Physiotherapist and Clinical Pilates Instructor Mariam will do an initial one-on-one assessment beforehand – Including this initial assessment, the block is £80, or £50 for any returning mums. (Individual class rates are £12 per class otherwise, with £30 for the initial assessment) Mothers must have had their all-clear from their doctor/midwife to exercise and 6-weeks post partum or 8-weeks if by C-section. Their babies must be up to crawling age only (otherwise they wriggle around and the mums don’t get to do much Pilates!) Please feel free to share in any groups or with friends who may be interested!

It’s planned that the 11:30 Class will be for mums and babies who are new to the CryBaby Class and the 13:30 class for continuing mums and babies
